laughing can help you stay young
  1. Laughter “ Have you ever laughed until your belly hurt? Who knew that you were doing your body good by having a good laugh?  Studies have shown that laughter reduces stress, burns calories, strengthens your immune system, improves digestion and even relieves pain (MayoClinic). When compared to other stress reducers, studies have shown that one minute of laughter can give the body up to 45 minutes of therapeutic relaxation.
  2. Friends “ Research has shown that surrounding yourself with supportive family and friends can have a positive effect on your mental well-being. Having a supportive group of individuals who have similar motivations, goals, and beliefs can increase your sense of belonging, self-worth, and can even give you a greater feeling of security as you go through life’s ups and downs.
  3. Exercise “ You don’t have to be the thinnest, strongest, or most athletic person on the block, but to stay feeling young it’s important to stay active, even if it is just for 15 minutes. Regular physical activity has been shown to help reduce stress, manage anxiety, improve sleep quality, boost mood, and provide added energy to the body.
  4. Healthy Food “ We’ve all heard the old adage, “You are what you eat”. Looking and feeling young has everything to do with fueling your body with the correct foods. Fortify your diet with fruits, vegetables, whole-grains, lean protein, and essential vitamins and minerals. Eating nuts, for example, will reduce your risk of heart disease and can even add a few years onto your life.
  5. Goals “ Setting goals and making an active effort to live with intention can help you feel self-fulfillment and that you are making a difference in your life and the world around you. As you set specific goals, pinpoint your drive, and work towards achieving them you’ll feel happier, younger, and of greater value.
