The harsh winter air can do a number on your skin, leaving it unhealthy, cracked and dry. Learn how to protect your skin this winter and keep it looking radiant “your skin will thank you!
- Dry air is the biggest cause of dry skin during the winter. Purchase a humidifier for your home to keep your sleeping area from getting too dry.
- Mositurize! After you get out of the bath or shower and even after you wash your hands, it’s important to immediately put lotion on your skin to lock the moisture in. It’s easier to prevent dry skin than to try and treat it once it gets bad.
- Don’t forget about the sunscreen. The sun’s rays are just as harmful during the winter months as they are during the summer. Hit two birds with one stone by purchasing a daily moisturizer that contains SPF.
- Protect your lips. Oftentimes we tend to forget about our lips until it’s too late and they’re cracked and dry. Carry lip balm with you always and try to purchase some that has SPF to not only keep your lips moisturized, but protected from the sun as well.
- Drink up. Keeping your body properly hydrated will help treat dry skin from the inside out.
- Remove wet clothing as soon as possible. Wetness against the skin can cause irritation, itching, cracking and dry skin.
- Protect your skin from the harsh winter elements by wearing gloves, hats and scarves.
- If you are still suffering from severely dry skin, seek help from a specialist.
