To be honest, we could all drink more water during the day. Everyone has heard that drinking plenty of water throughout the day has many benefits, but what are these benefits? How good could it possibly be? In my humble opinion, if you are trying to look younger, lose weight, get a handle on headaches, curb fatigue, or generally just feel better, you should increase your water intake. The list doesn’t stop there, though, it goes on and on.
Water is as essential to humans as breathing oxygen. It aids in everything to nutrient dispersement throughout your body to ridding your body of toxins. This helps your complexion in that all of the gross impurities that can build up in your pores and organs are flushed out The Institute of medicine recommends that people should consume between 2 and 3 liters of water a day, not taking into account how much exercise a person gets or the climate that they live in. These factors will increase the amount you should drink. It is possible to drink too much water, but it is not common and quite difficult to do.
A rule that I like to go by is “always drink before you are thirsty.” As it turns out, thirst is not always the best way to measure your body’s need to fluids. Generally, the ability to feel thirst decreases with age. A more safe practice is to set a goal and meet it throughout the day. This will help curb your appetite and give you more energy throughout the day.
If you are having a hard time trying to increase your water consumption, I recommend always carrying a water bottle with you, preferably one where you can easily measure the amount of water inside. After a few weeks this will become more of a good habit than a burden and you will be on your way to a more healthy and youthful lifestyle.
